After 12-years of work between the MBTA, Jamaica Plain community groups and the City of Boston, plans for an 18-acre renovation of the temporary facility at the Arborway Yard on Washington St. are nearing completion.  The plan currently calls for the MBTA to build a 10-acre bus facility and for the City of Boston to develop the remaining eight acres.  Development plans currently include a park along one side of the bus depot, residential housing and even retail space.

At a recent public meeting, the MBTA stressed that funding hasn’t been secured for the plan and it will not seek to finalize the project until the City of Boston and community groups agree on how the space will be developed.   JP residents have worked with the MBTA throughout the process to influence the design and size of the facility, they say they’re confident the project will be built and that ultimately it will benefit the community.  Check out the full story below.
